Celebrating Christmas
There are so many people who are ready to throw the baby out with the bathwater (no pun intended) and go to the extreme of being really against Christmas, and whilst I share their views that it is part of the corporatist agenda, and I whole-heartedly agree about the alternative view that Christmas is not what it seems, I just wanted to share what it means to me. I don’t feel there is any need to sacrifice what has grown to be a special time of year for many. I still love this time of year, but I do things differently and with a different intention. We can still harness the goodwill energy that is around in our own way – what a waste of that energy if we don’t! For me it is a celebration of the angels who are with us tirelessly guiding us mainly without thanks or recognition, it is a celebration that the shortest day has been and gone and the sun is enjoying a beautiful re-birth, it is a celebration of family and friends, a time for gratitude and thanksgiving for all we have. For me, the giving and receiving of small gifts as thanksgiving is perfect when they are hand-made or sourced ethically and locally. We can make this time of year anything we want to, which can become our own personal protest against what Christmas has become by not buying into the mainstream agenda, and that includes not to celebrate it at all if that is what you want. The choice is entirely with each and every one and one person’s belief is not right for everyone. x
